Housing Counseling Program

The Housing Authority has been a HUD approved Housing Counseling agency since May 3, 2002. Housing Counseling is a one-on-one service provided to homeowners or tenants to assist them in improving their housing conditions and in meeting the responsibilities of tenancy or homeownership. We provide a full range of services identified by HUD which includes: pre-purchase, resolving or preventing mortgage delinquency; home maintenance and financial management for homeowners; locating, securing or maintaining residence in rental housing and seeking shelter or services for the homeless. We provide Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) counseling as the counselor’s schedule allows. In addition, the Housing Authority provides group education sessions designed to prepare potential homebuyers for homeownership. Homebuyer Education classes are approximately eight (8) hours in length and meet both HUD and Oklahoma Homebuyer Education Association (OHEA) requirements.
